Climate change is increasingly influencing the way we think about families. Among young people, there’s a growing phenomenon of anxiety about the decision of whether or not to have children in a changing climate, and for people who already have children, climate change can profoundly shape our experience of parenthood. Many of us struggle with painful, complicated emotions about climate and families alone.

In this 75-minute event, Having Children in a Climate Crisis, we’ll explore the ways climate change is affecting our mental health in relation to decisions about family-building. Attendees will watch two documentary films: The Climate Baby Dilemma, which will be available to screen before the event, and Gen Z Mental Health: Climate Stories, which is an 8-minute film that will be screened for the audience during the event. The event will feature a panel discussion with the filmmakers, leading experts in the field of climate change and mental health, and a climate psychology clinician. Featuring Jenni Silverstein, CPA-NA, Co-sponsored with Climate Mental Health Network and Moms for Clean Air. The conversation will make room for a range of experiences, and both parents and people without children are welcome.

This workshop is open to the public.
